Modern Slavery Policy

Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms, such as slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour and human trafficking, all of which have in common the deprivation of a person’s liberty by another in order to exploit them for personal or commercial gain MLT Recruitment Services is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all of our business dealings and relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our own business or in any of our supply chains.

We are also committed to ensuring there is transparency in our own business and in our approach to tackling modern slavery throughout our supply chains, consistent with our disclosure obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We expect the same high standards from all of our contractors, suppliers and other business partners, and as part of our contracting processes, we include specific prohibitions against the use of forced, compulsory or trafficked labour, or anyone held in slavery or servitude, whether adults or children, and we expect that our suppliers will hold their own suppliers to the same high standards.

This policy applies to all persons working for us or on our behalf in any capacity, including employees at all levels, directors, officers, agency workers, seconded workers, volunteers, interns, agents, contractors, external consultants, third-party representatives and business partners.

This policy does not form part of any employee’s contract of employment and we may amend it at any time.

MLT Recruitment Services is committed to eliminating modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and similar human rights abuses.

MLT Recruitment Services is committed to ensuring that its staff and any workers it supplies (directly or indirectly) are not subject to behaviour or threats that may amount to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and similar human rights abuses.

MLT Recruitment Services provides appropriate training and awareness information for all of its staff. In particular: All of our staff receive awareness-raising information around issues involving modern slavery and human trafficking, so that they can bring any concerns they have to the attention of management.

Any staff, workers or other parties are strongly encouraged to report any concerns or suspicions that they might have to a director.

Reports surrounding these issues are taken extremely seriously by our board of directors , who are committed to ensuring that all investigations shall be prompt and effective. If our investigations reveal any issues, we are committed to taking appropriate action, including but not limited to:

  • Working with the appropriate organisations to improve standards,

  • Removing that organisation from our preferred supplier list,

  • Passing details to appropriate law enforcement bodies.

We regularly monitor our risks in this area through the use of relevant key performance indicators, including: The level of modern slavery training and awareness amongst our staff.

As part of our efforts in this area, we publish a modern slavery statement on an annual basis.

We would also recommend reading this in conjunction with our other policies, including our:

  • Corporate social responsibility policy,

  • Ethical procurement policy,

  • Anti-bribery / corruption policy, and

  • Whistle-blowing policy

This policy was adopted on 21st April 2015 after being agreed by our board of directors. It is reviewed annually.
